Established by Sheriff Patrick W. McDermott, Norfolk County Unsung Heroes recognition is presented by the Norfolk County Sheriff in recognition of acts of heroism, community building, and public service. Nominations are made by Norfolk County residents who wish to recognize those in their communities who they believe embody the spirit of the program.
Individual residents and groups of residents are eligible to be Norfolk County Unsung Heroes.
To be eligible, nominees should live in Norfolk County or be connected to the county through their acts. Self-nominations are not accepted. Current employees of the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and their immediate family members are not eligible for this award.
Recipients will be recognized on a rolling basis. Recipients will receive a certificate of merit from the Norfolk County Sheriff, have their name listed as a Norfolk County Hero on the Sheriff’s website, and be recognized in a ceremony.
