Minimum requirements are job specific. Below are the minimum criteria to seek employment as a Correctional Officer within the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office:

• Minimum age 21
• Authorized to work in the United States
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Honorable Discharge from the Armed Services
• Pass a written exam & physical fitness test
• Pass a general & criminal background check
• Pass a drug & psychological screening
• Demonstrate verbal, written and computer skills sufficient to effectively communicate
• Provide approved licensures

Non-Uniform Positions

The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office encompasses a variety of departments, including Deputy Sheriffs/Details, Communications, Civil Process, Community Corrections, Community Engagement, Fiscal, External Operations, Human Resources, IT, Legal, and the Reentry/HOPE Center.
